2ND Shift Maintenance Technician

Location: Northbrook, IL

We are seeking a skilled and dependable 2ND ShiftMaintenance Technician to support manufacturing operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production equipment and facility systems. This position is responsible for minimizing equipment downtime through preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and timely repairs while ensuring a safe and efficient production environment.

Schedule: Monday – Friday | 2ND Shift

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on manufacturing equipment to maximize uptime and equipment reliability.

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on production machinery.

  • Diagnose equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.

  • Install, modify, and upgrade manufacturing equipment and facility systems as needed.

  • Conduct routine inspections to identify potential maintenance issues before they impact production.

  • Maintain and repair facility systems, including HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and general building maintenance.

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to perform repairs accurately.

  • Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document work orders, preventive maintenance, and repair history.

  • Follow all safety regulations, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Hot Work procedures, and electrical safety standards.

  • Maintain spare parts inventory and assist with ordering replacement components.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.

  • Provide support to other maintenance team members as needed.

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical certification preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years of industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience.

  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.

  • Experience maintaining:

    • Motors

    • Gearboxes

    • Pumps

    • Conveyors

    • Bearings

    • Sensors

    • Switches

  • Experience working with 110V, 208V, and 460V three-phase electrical systems.

  • Working knowledge of PLC troubleshooting (programming experience is a plus).

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and mechanical drawings.

  • Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and welding is highly preferred.

  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and CMMS software.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces when necessary.

  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, multimeters, and diagnostic equipment.

  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or emergency call-ins when required.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industrial Maintenance, Electrical, HVAC, or related technical certification.

  • Experience in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment (food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or related industries).

  • Knowledge of continuous improvement and preventive maintenance best practices.

 

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay:$38.00 – $40.00 per hour (based on experience)
