Maintenance Technician POSITION TITLE: Maintenance Technician POSITION LOCATION: Vonore, TN POSITION REPORTS TO: Maintenance Team Leader POSITION SUPERVISES: N/A POSITION SUMMARY: Maintenance Technicians are responsible for training OBM Team Members on proper Preventative Maintenance (PM) procedures and inspections of machine components to properly perform plant Preventative Maintenance (PM) while troubleshooting and repairing equipment as necessary and are required to oversee and assist all other employees assigned to that area regarding safety, quality, operations, maintenance and continuous improvement. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Safety - Must follow and help enforce all rules and regulations pertaining to OSHA and HAVCO safety rules/regulations.
- Must identify and aid in the corrections of any safety hazards.
- Immediately notifies the Supervisor of any safety issues or concerns.
- Must be able to move material safely using proper lifting techniques.
- Identify and aid in the corrections of any unsafe behavior through co-worker awareness.
Quality - Must know and understand all customer’s requirements in their assigned area pertaining to quality and customer satisfaction.
- Must be able to meet internal and external customer’s requirements on any Critical to quality (CTQ) testing required of their area.
- Identify and aid in the corrections of any quality issues.
- Immediately notifies the Supervisor of any quality issues or concerns.
- Must perform daily, weekly, and monthly quality inspections in their assigned area.
- Must be able to use instruments such as micrometers, tape measures, go/no-go gauges, etc. to ensure quality specifications are met.
Operation - Must be able to safely operate various pieces of equipment specific to your assigned area as needed.
- Must be able to maintain a constant and consistent flow of material in the machine, while adjusting machinery if necessary to facilitate an efficient flow of material.
- Must be able to Set-up equipment to run material to meet customer specifications.
- Must stop production of material when quality issues are identified.
- Must stop equipment when it is identified to be unsafe to run.
- Must be able to work any required overtime, including weekends.
- The employee is required to maintain regular, reliable and predictable attendance and punctuality.
Maintenance - Must be able to possess, exercise, and maintain good communication skills with the Maintenance staff team to ensure all machinery is in good working conditions at all times.
- Must perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance activities including, but not limited to Preventative Maintenance (PM), replacements of components.
- Must be able to troubleshoot equipment defects.
- Must fill out required maintenance documents to include, but not limited to Preventative Maintenance (PM) sheets and work orders.
- Must be able to learn and follow the Operator Bases Maintenance (OBM) Pillar Route.
- Participate on Operator Bases Maintenance (OBM) Teams.
Continuous Improvement - Participate on and understand Root Cause Analyses (RCA) practices.
- Have understanding of Continuous Improvement (CI) Structure.
- Participate on ADHOC teams to eradicate or minimize issues/losses.
- Participate on Continuous Improvement (CI) Teams and Pillars.
- EDUCATION: Must possess a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
- Preferred: Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology.
- WORK EXPERIENCE: The candidate should have 2 to 3 years of working experience in an industrial setting or possess an Associate Degree in Maintenance Technology or in a related field.
CERTIFICATION: N/A KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: - Must be able to work take and pass the appropriate Maintenance assessment tests.
- Must possess the ability to pass the required Maintenance Work Steps testing as set forth by the company.
- The candidate must be able to demonstrate any “hands on” skills as determined by the company.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to prioritize, multi-task and manage time efficiently.
- Must be able to work across functional lines seamlessly.
- Must exercise a high level of integrity and able to deal effectively with employees at all levels.
- Must possess and exercise the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Forklift experience preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: - Must be able to work in hot and cold weather environments.
- Must be able to stand 8 – 12 hours/day.
- Must be able to bend, twist, turn, and lift 10-50 lbs. routinely.
- Must possess the ability to work at a fast pace both safely and consistently.
