Position Overview: Packaging Technician

Sigma Systems is currently recruiting for a Packaging Technician for one of our clients, a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Athens, GA. This 6-month contract position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with manufacturing experience to support packaging operations in a regulated GMP environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating packaging equipment, maintaining production documentation, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Packaging Operations:

  • Operate packaging equipment in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Assist with the setup and changeover of packaging equipment to support production schedules.
  • Monitor packaging processes to ensure product quality and operational efficiency.

2. Documentation & Data Entry:

  • Complete all required production and packaging documentation accurately and on time.
  • Perform data entry, including recording product packaging information, equipment downtime, and standard production yields.
  • Ensure documentation complies with GMP and company quality standards.

3. Equipment & Facility Maintenance:

  • Maintain packaging equipment and work areas in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Properly manage and dispose of waste materials in designated satellite storage bins.
  • Support routine maintenance activities to ensure equipment readiness and reliability.

4. Safety & Compliance:

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Follow all company safety policies, GMP requirements, and operating procedures.
  • Observe, support, and encourage team members to comply with established policies and procedures.

5. Team Collaboration:

  • Communicate equipment or process issues effectively with supervisors and teammates.
  • Work collaboratively with production personnel to achieve daily production goals.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to improve packaging operations.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience:

  • Previous manufacturing or production experience required.
  • Experience working in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment is required.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
