2nd Shift Quality Control Technician
Location: Northbrook, IL
We are seeking a detail-oriented 2nd Shift Quality Control Technician to join our Quality team. This position is responsible for ensuring that raw materials and finished products meet established quality standards and regulatory requirements through laboratory testing, sensory evaluations, and accurate documentation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in food, beverage, flavor, or related manufacturing who enjoys working in a laboratory environment.
Schedule: Monday Friday | 2:00 PM 10:30 PM
Key Responsibilities
Perform organoleptic (sensory) evaluations of raw materials and finished products.
Conduct routine laboratory testing, including:
Specific Gravity
Refractive Index
pH Analysis
Flash Point Testing
Particle Size Analysis
Gas Chromatography (GC)
Titrations
Microbiological Testing
Maintain accurate laboratory records, test results, and batch release documentation.
Review Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and supplier documentation for compliance.
Approve raw materials for production and finished goods for shipment.
Identify and communicate quality concerns or product non-conformances to Production and Quality teams.
Participate in investigations and corrective actions related to quality issues.
Collaborate with Production, Research & Development, Purchasing, suppliers, and customers to resolve quality-related concerns.
Respond to customer requests regarding Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and product shelf-life extensions.
Calibrate, maintain, and verify laboratory equipment.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment while following all safety protocols and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field preferred.
13 years of Quality Control experience in a food, beverage, flavor, pharmaceutical, or related manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of FDA, USDA, GMP, and food safety regulations.
Experience with sensory evaluation techniques and laboratory testing methods.
Familiarity with microbiological and chemical testing procedures.
Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and documentation skills.
Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay: $23.00 $25.00 per hour (based on experience)
