Sanitation Supervisor

The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all cleaning and sanitation activities within a food production facility. This role leads and trains the sanitation team, ensures compliance with food safety and regulatory standards, and keeps the facility andequipment in a clean and safe working condition. The ideal candidate has experience supervising sanitation teams within refrigerated or food processing environments and understands the requirements of GMPs and SSOPs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, train, and coach sanitation team members on proper sanitation procedures, food safety standards, and company policies.
  • Ensure production areas, equipment, and tools are cleaned and sanitized to required standards and ready for use before shift start.
  • Conduct routine pre-operational and post-operational sanitation inspections.
  • Monitor and maintain proper use, handling, and storage of sanitation chemicals.
  • Ensure team members follow personal hygiene guidelines including proper uniform, PPE, and handwashing practices.
  • Oversee the cleaning and sanitation of production floors, tools, equipment, break rooms, restrooms, and supporting areas.
  • Maintain sanitation records including logs, inspection forms, corrective actions, and cleaning schedules.
  • Identify and report sanitation concerns, equipment issues, or safety hazards.
  • Work closely with production and maintenance teams to support smooth shift transitions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance sanitation efficiency and food safety compliance.
Qualifications
  • 4+ years of sanitation experience in food or beverage manufacturing; prior supervisory or lead experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GMPs, SSOPs, and food safety regulations (FDA, USDA, GFSI or similar).
  • Ability to train and lead sanitation employees effectively.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Able to work in cold or refrigerated environments.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform physical tasks.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
Work Environment
  • Work is performed in food production areas, including cold or refrigerated rooms.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
  • May be required to work nights, weekends, or overtime depending on production needs.
