    Job Summary:

    The Secondary Operations Operator will be responsible for performing a variety of machining and finishing operations on precision hydraulic components. This role operates secondary machining equipment, including Robo-Drills and Omni Turns, performs deburring and part finishing, and ensures all products meet Sun Hydraulics' quality and production standards.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Operate secondary machining equipment, including Robo-Drills, Omni Turns, and other assigned production equipment.
    • Load and unload parts while monitoring machine performance and cycle times.
    • Perform deburring and finishing operations to remove burrs and sharp edges from machined components.
    • Inspect parts using gauges, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring equipment to ensure conformance to specifications.
    • Read and follow work instructions, blueprints, routers, and quality documentation.
    • Identify and report quality concerns, equipment malfunctions, or process issues to the appropriate personnel.
    • Complete required production and quality documentation accurately.
    • Perform routine machine maintenance, including cleaning equipment, removing chips, and maintaining coolant levels as required.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 5S and company safety standards.
    • Follow all company safety policies, quality standards, and standard operating procedures.
    • Crosstrain in other secondary operations and provide support in other production areas as needed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Ability to safely operate manufacturing and secondary machining equipment.
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
    • Ability to use precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
    • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
    • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, blueprints, and production documentation.
    • Basic mathematical skills, including measuring and performing simple calculations.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.

    Education and Experience:

    • High school diploma/GED preferred.
    • Previous manufacturing or machining experience preferred but not required.
    • Technical certification is a plus.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Frequently stand, walk, or sit for extended periods throughout the shift.
    • Frequently life, carry, push, and pull up to 35 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds.
    • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machine noise, oils, coolants, and varying temperatures.
