Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 3:00 PM – 1:00 AM (Four 10-Hour Days)
Position Overview
Top Prospect Group is seeking a hands-on 2nd Shift Supervisor for a manufacturing client located in Deep River, CT. This role is responsible for overseeing daily production activities, ensuring production goals are met, maintaining quality standards, supporting machine operations, and providing leadership and guidance to production employees.
The Supervisor will oversee a team of three production employees on 2nd shift while working closely with management to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations. The current supervisor is earning $35.00/hr, and candidates with injection molding or plastics manufacturing leadership experience are highly desired.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain production output according to the production schedule
- Supervise, coach, and support a team of three production employees
- Ensure daily production goals, quality standards, and safety requirements are met
- Operate and clean auxiliary equipment including mold heaters, granulators, sprue pickers, and material dryers
- Visually inspect molded parts and compare them to approved first-piece samples
- Review job travelers and follow special instructions related to trimming, inserts, cooling blocks, packaging, labeling, and customer requirements
- Train operators and production employees on work instructions and production procedures
- Assist with packaging, counting, weighing, and labeling finished products
- Complete box labels, production reports, and manufacturing documentation
- Support shipping and receiving activities as needed
- Assist with mold cleaning, mold maintenance, and operation of injection molding equipment
- Troubleshoot minor production and process issues
- Promote teamwork and maintain a positive work environment
- Ensure compliance with company quality standards and safety procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous manufacturing supervisory, lead, or production management experience required
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to train, mentor, and develop production employees
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Experience
- Injection molding or plastics manufacturing experience strongly preferred
- Previous experience as a Shift Supervisor, Production Supervisor, Lead Operator, or Manufacturing Supervisor
- Experience operating molding machines and auxiliary equipment
- Knowledge of quality inspection processes and manufacturing documentation
- Shipping and receiving experience is a plus
- Experience leading production teams in a manufacturing environment
