Job Description: 2nd Shift Supervisor Position Overview
The 2nd Shift Supervisor oversees daily operations, production outputs, and personnel during the afternoon/evening shift (typically 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM or similar). This role ensures safety compliance, meets production quotas, maintains quality standards, and manages staff performance while bridging communication between 1st and 2nd shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operations & Production Management: Monitor workflow to ensure daily production targets, efficiency metrics, and delivery schedules are met.

  • Team Leadership & Personnel: Supervise, train, and mentor shift employees. Manage staffing levels, conduct performance evaluations, and handle initial disciplinary actions or conflict resolution.

  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and proper equipment usage. Conduct safety audits and lead incident investigations if required.

  • Quality Control: Ensure all outputs meet quality standards. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve production bottlenecks or product defects.

  • Shift Handover: Coordinate with 1st shift supervisors upon arrival to review daily goals, and provide a comprehensive shift log/report to 3rd shift or management at the end of the block.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: 2–5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, or a related industrial environment.

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in business, operations, or engineering is preferred.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems, inventory management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Core Competencies: Strong leadership, conflict resolution, time management, and the ability to work independently with minimal upper-management presence
