Primary
Purpose:
Coordinate
the
district's
Reading
Language
Arts
(RLA)
programs
and
initiatives.
Collaborate
with
Coordinate
the
district's
English
Language
Arts
and
Reading
(ELAR)
programs
and
initiatives.
Collaborate
with
other
core
content
areas,
campus
leaders,
and
district
personnel
to
design,
develop,
promote,
implement,
and
evaluate
ELAR
programs.
Lead
the
alignment
of
a
research-based,
standards-aligned
ELAR
curriculum
and
instructional
framework
across
grade
levels.
Engage
district
staff
and
the
community
in
literacy
initiatives.
Provide
guidance
on
curriculum,
instruction,
assessment,
staff
development,
intervention,
and
instructional
material
selection
for
ELAR
education.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification :
Master's
degree
from
an
accredited
university
with
a
major
in
the
assigned
subject
Valid
Texas
teaching
certificate
with
required
endorsements
for
the
subject
assigned
Experience:
Minimum
of
five
(5)
years
of
classroom
experience
teaching
English
Language
Arts
and
Reading
Some
experience
working
in
intervention
models
serving
at-risk
students,
and
with
balanced
literacy,
preferred
Special
Knowledge/Skills:
Ability
to
design
and
lead
the
development
of
an
effective,
integrated
curriculum
In-depth
knowledge
of
the
ELAR
TEKS,
with
a
focus
on
designing
a
coherent,
practical
curriculum
that
directly
aligns
with
state
standards
Ability
to
integrate
twenty-first-century
skills
and
technology
into
student
learning
experiences
Demonstrated
success
in
student
achievement
as
measured
by
data
analysis
of
assessment
results
for
curriculum
and
instructional
design
Highly
proficient
in
verbal
and
written
language
Demonstrated
interpersonal
and
collaborative

Major
Responsibilities
and
Duties:
Content
and
Program
Management
1.
Work
cooperatively
with
directors
and
campus
principals
to
develop
and
supervise
instructional
programs
in
the
assigned
subject
area.
2.
Coordinate
the
review,
development,
and
revision
of
all
subject
area
programs
and
related
curriculum
documents
and
materials,
including
curriculum
guides,
course
outlines,
and
teaching
plans.
3.
Oversee
assessment
programs
for
ELAR
and
make
recommendations
for
instructional
improvement
where
appropriate.
4.
Coordinate
the
ordering
and
use
of
department
instructional
aids
and
materials
for
ELAR.
5.
Evaluate
the
curriculum
and
instruction
program
effectiveness
for
the
assigned
subject
area
based
on
evaluative
findings
(including
student
achievement
data)
and
recommend
changes
as
needed.
6.
Maintain
a
resource
library
of
publications,
supplementary
materials,
and
supplies
relevant
to
the
assigned
subject
area.
7.
Participate
in
the
development,
preparation,
and
administration
of
the
budget
for
supplies,
equipment,
and
resources
in
ELAR.
Staff
Development
8.
Plan
and
provide
staff
development
for
teachers,
administrators,
and
staff
in
ELAR.
9.
Disseminate
information
regarding
current
research,
evidence-based
literacy
practices,
and
significant
developments
on
the
state
and
national
levels
in
ELAR.
10.
Observe
classroom
instruction
and
provide
feedback
and
assistance
to
classroom
teachers
to
facilitate
improvement
and
innovation.
Demonstrate
teaching
strategies
with
students
in
the
classroom.

11.
Convey
information
to
parents
and
community
members
about
school
programs.
12.
Compile,
maintain,
and
file
all
required
reports,
records,
and
other
documents.
13.
Follow
district

and
