Enterprise Analytics has several teams, Retail Analytics, Pharmacy Personalization Analytics and Data Strategy and Engineering, helping lead the effort to transform healthcare and provide better outcomes for patients by leveraging solutions in a particular business analytic area and deliver new insights to leaders that manage the roadmap for enhancements that drive new development on existing or new solutions.

What this business area supports:
The Data Engineering role will work with a variety of business partners from across the enterprise to both support the development of innovative programs to improve patient outcomes as well as reduce cost and improve efficiency across CVS Health and accelerate the pace of innovation at CVS Health with high-impact actionable analysis and reporting.

This Data Engineer position will collaborate with business partners to identity opportunities to leverage big data technologies with a common set of tools and infrastructure to make analytics faster, more insightful, and more efficient. This position will build next-generation Big Data machine learning framework developed on a group of core Hadoop technologies and design highly scalable and extensible Big Data platforms which enable collection, storage, modeling, and analysis of massive data sets from numerous channels.

This Data Engineer position will also apply a creative mindset to a focus on collecting, parsing, managing, and automating data feedback loops in support of business innovation. This position will be responsible for creating and maintaining data and analytics process documentation for existing projects and provide suggestions for improvements to governance policies and processes.

What the Data Engineer will do within one of Retail Analytics, Pharmacy Personalization Analytics or Data Strategy and Engineering teams:
• Conduct data profiling on complex set up both internal and external data and derive insights on how the data is connected and what the quality is
• Design and develop complex data processes using data management tools such as SAS/SQL. R/Python to process large volume of data and create aggregate tables and analytical datasets
• Design highly scalable and extensible Big Data platform which enables industrializing collection, storage, modeling, and analysis of massive data sets from heterogeneous channels
• Develop prototypes and proof of concepts for the selected solutions, and implementing complex big data projects
• Apply an analytic mindset to collecting, parsing, managing, and automating data feedback loops in support of business innovation
• Develop and release ML pipelines into a production environment using Spark and Databricks (primary languages: Scala/Python and SQL)
• Lead and participate in proof of concepts to build the data layers and concepts to derive the analytical insights

Required Qualifications
• 3+ years of professional experience and business analytics experience
• Hands-on experience with “big data” platforms including Hadoop (preferably Azure or AWS) and Spark as well as experience with traditional RDBMS (e.g., Teradata, Oracle).
• Proficiency in “big data” technologies including Spark, Airflow, Kafka, Hbase, Pig, NoSQL databases, etc
• Proficiency in one of the following programming languages: PySpark, Scala, or Java
• Experience with traditional warehouse technologies like Teradata, SQL, BTEQ, PL/SQL
• Must be able to translate analytical problems into structured programs (in PySpark or Scala)
• Must have experience designing data models and solutions for analytical as well as reporting use cases
• Creative problem solver, flexible, proactive and ability to work in a fast paced, ever changing environment
• Experience presenting to audiences including technical, non-technical and senior leaders (both verbally and through Microsoft Office products - Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
• Experience in managing cross functional initiatives communicating effectively and confidently with business partners, project team members and senior management
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to interact with and influence decision-making by non-analytical business audiences

Preferred Qualifications
• Exposure to some healthcare data and domain knowledge
• Experience working with data and have a strong understanding of analytics and how it is leveraged within the healthcare/retail industry
• Experience in managing cross functional initiatives communicating effectively and confidently with business partners, project team members and senior management
• Productionalized one or more ML application on a big data platform
• Experience with cloud computing environment (ideally Microsoft Azure)
• Experience working on a large scale Spark implementation

Education
• Required: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Physics, Math or related fields.
• Preferred: Master's Degree – with coursework focused on advanced algorithms, mathematics in computing, data structures etc.
