3D Vision Robot Programmer — Bin Picking Systems

Location: Orion, Michigan

Employment Type: Contract (Mid-July through December 2026)

Compensation: $33.00–$40.00 per hour (commensurate with proven work history)

A day in the life

You arrive on site, open a fresh project in Photoneo, and start a careful hand–eye calibration. Bins and totes are staged; you tune localization profiles and run trials on real parts. Before lunch, you’ve taught a safe start pose and a robust drop path, then switch over to Keyence to validate another 3D bin scenario. The afternoon is for logic—crafting pick-to-Matrox sequences, flip/qualify checks, and bin empty/tote empty routines—followed by a quick Ethernet handshake test between the robot, vision controller, and the client/server. You wrap the day debugging with the PLC programmer, moving a cell from teach to fully automatic operation.

What you’ll own

  • Vision systems integration (Photoneo, Keyence, Matrox): Configure and calibrate Photoneo and Keyence 3D bin picking environments; load Matrox 2D/3D projects, adjust camera parameters, and craft precise multi-face detection “recipes.”
  • Calibration & localization: Execute hand–eye calibration, scan EOAT, and establish accurate localization profiles for bins and totes.
  • Robot programming: Teach complex paths (rough approaches, start poses, drop and reject routines) and develop advanced logic, including pick-to-Matrox, flip/qualify, and empty-bin/tote sequences.
  • Integration & communications: Stand up reliable Ethernet communications among robots, vision controllers, and client/server architectures.
  • Hardware & commissioning: Commission robots end-to-end; install and configure Photoneo or Keyence vision cabinets; set up EOAT with MAGSWITCH magnetic grippers and suction cups; verify and test functions.
  • PLC collaboration: Partner with PLC engineers to troubleshoot interlocks and transition systems from manual teach to automatic mode.
  • Process & quality: Apply deep bin-picking expertise—file loading, simulation deliverables, and rough grasping methods—then fine-tune grasp strategies and localization for maximum reliability.

Must-have certifications and focus areas

  • GRS, MPS, DCS, Fall Protection
  • Specialized robot programming in Bin Picking and “Seek C Find”

Core skills

  • Analyzing Test Information
  • Picker
  • Interpreting Test Information
  • Assembling Electrical Systems

How we work together

We value inventive thinking and strong communication. You’ll act as a connector across robotics, vision, and controls—anticipating issues, sharing insights, and delivering production-ready automation.

Background check

A successful candidate will be subject to a background check and must receive satisfactory results of the same, as a condition of joining the team.

Application integrity

By applying, you affirm your application information is accurate and complete. Submitting false or misleading information may result in denial or revocation of an offer, or termination after work commencement.
