Job Summary
Sigma, Inc. is seeking a dependable Batch Weigher / Production Associate for a food manufacturing facility in Hicksville, NY.
The Batch Weigher supports production by accurately weighing and preparing ingredients for scheduled batches and kettles. This position requires basic math skills, attention to detail, the ability to follow written production instructions, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Candidates with experience in food manufacturing, batch processing, ingredient weighing, production, mixing, blending, machine operation, or warehouse environments are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Pre-weigh ingredients according to the production schedule and batch specifications.
- Accurately measure ingredients using scales and other weighing equipment.
- Prepare and add ingredients to scheduled kettles.
- Formulate batches according to established procedures and specifications.
- Communicate with cooks and production team members regarding production plans.
- Inspect raw materials before use to ensure quality and sanitation requirements are met.
- Record batch information accurately, including lot codes, quantities, times, quality information, and initials.
- Ensure ingredients remain properly covered, sealed, labeled, and identified.
- Check scales, Flexicon equipment, and other production equipment for proper operation.
- Verify equipment is properly sanitized before use.
- Wash kettles between rotations as needed.
- Complete required production checklists, forms, and reports.
- Prepare workstations for operation and maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas.
- Follow HACCP, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), food safety, personal safety, and company procedures.
- Perform other production-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to read, write, understand, and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Basic mathematical and arithmetic skills.
- Ability to understand weights, measurements, quantities, and batch instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with production team members.
- Ability to work the scheduled 3:00 PM–1:00 AM shift and some Saturdays as required.
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Steel-toe shoes are required.
Preferred Experience
Previous experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:
- Food manufacturing or food production
- Batch weighing or batch processing
- Ingredient weighing and measuring
- Mixing or blending
- Kettle operations
- Production or manufacturing
- Machine operation
- GMP or HACCP environments
Physical Requirements
This is an active production position. Candidates must be able to:
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, turn, twist, push, pull, reach, and climb.
- Lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Perform duties while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Work in varying temperature zones, including cold and/or hot environments.
- Work in production areas where dust may be present.
- Remain physically active for extended periods during the shift.
