Job Description

Position Summary

 

The Painter is responsible for applying paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings and other structures. 

 

Position Responsibilities - Essential

 

  • Applies paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings and other structures

  • Prepares surfaces for painting

  • Prepares all facilities, furniture, and equipment for painting

  • Sets up ladders to perform tasks above ground level

  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job 

  • Participate in plant shift meeting and continuous improvement activities

  • Execution of all duties with a safety-first mindset and approach

  • Ensure all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after the process to foster a positive safety culture by having a safety-first mindset and approach during execution of activities

  • Based on the nature of the essential functions associated with this role, GreenWood has designated this as a “safety-sensitive” position. 

 

Position Responsibilities - Non-Essential/Other

 

  • Conducts process inspection, certification, and documentation

  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

 

Essential Skills and Experience

 

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent

  • One year experience in related field with knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures

  • Ability to meet minimum vision requirements for operation of a powered industrial vehicle with or without corrective lenses

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume and automated environment, and have a strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing or distribution center environment where seasonal temperatures may be extreme at times including excessive heat or cold

  • Ability to learn new skills and apply the new skills to daily work tasks

  • Basic Computer skills

  • Ability to work from various heights 

  • Ability to be certified to operate powered lift equipment(ariel lift, scissor lift, etc.)

  • Excellent attention to detail and sense of urgency

  • Ability to prioritize and perform repetitive tasks with focus on quantity and quality

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment

  • Demonstrates a high level of customer service and strong communication (both listening and speaking) and interpersonal skills 

  • Experience demonstrating successful support of a positive safety culture

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation(s)

 

Beneficial Skills and Experience

 

  • Completed an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty preferred

  • Experience in facilities painting preferred

  • Greater than one year experience in related field preferred

  • Extensive knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within related field preferred
