Loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site by performing the following duties

Essential Functions:

  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
  • Opens containers.
  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from flatbeds, box truck, trailer trucks, skids, racks, and shelves by hand.
  • Operates crane for bar stock/coils.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of all scales.
  • Convert cargos to pans/pans to cargos.
  • Transports materials from storage or work sites to designated area utilizing lift truck, crane, pushcart, or carrying.
  • Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved. Fill orders in correct containers (follow standard work).
  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information as required.
  • Stacks materials into bundles and bands bundles together.
  • Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist and cleans work area.
  • Makes simple adjustments or repairs to material cutting saws and roll marking equipment.
  • Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
  • Operates material cutting saws and bar marking equipment according to specification.
  • Must follow written standard work procedures including all safety and 5S procedures.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Immediately upon entering the position, lift truck certification is required.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Inventory software and Manufacturing software, to input all incoming material into inventory.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, complete DR sheets and able to use label systems for our supermarket/customers. Ability to speak effectively before groups of suppliers or employees of organization.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
