Job Description - Food Manufacturing Packer / Packaging Associate (GMP Environment)

Position: Packer / Packaging Associate

Position Summary

The Packer supports the packaging of finished food products in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role requires strict compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety, and sanitation standards while meeting line speed and quality expectations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Pack finished product into cartons/trays according to work instructions and quality standards.
• Inspect product for defects and remove out-of-spec items prior to packing.
• Properly label, seal, and stack packaged product for appearance, accuracy, and safe storage.
• Maintain packaging line speed standards and work efficiently with the production team.
• Keep the work area clean and organized; follow sanitation and safety procedures at all times.
• Assist with break relief, changeovers, basic setup, and cleanup as assigned.
• Accurately read, follow, and document written instructions (labels, counts, lot codes, etc.).
• Communicate any issues (quality, downtime, safety concerns) to the line lead/supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

GMP, Hygiene & Appearance Requirements (Strict)

This is a GMP-controlled food production area. All associates must comply with the following:

• No jewelry (including rings, bracelets, watches, necklaces, facial piercings, etc.).
• No makeup in production areas.
• No nail polish and no artificial nails.
• Follow all hair/beard restraint requirements (hairnets, beard nets as applicable).
• No eating, drinking, or gum in production areas (water policy per site rules).
• Follow handwashing, glove use, and personal hygiene procedures.

Qualifications

• Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
• Ability to lift up to (insert requirement, e.g., 30 lbs) as needed.
• Basic math skills (counts, simple calculations).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality in a production environment

Work Environment

• Food manufacturing facility with production noise, moving machinery, and temperature variations.
• PPE may be required (safety shoes, gloves, etc.) per site policy.
