Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Wind from multiple reels to single reel as necessary for cabling or other operations
- Visually checks all wire and cable during rewinding operations to detect rough finish areas, obvious diameter variations and other disqualifying elements
- Take approved action to report, repair, remove faulty areas depending upon type and use requirements of wire or cable being rewound
- Performs simple electrical test functions to check cables and other items for continuity and "dead" shorts
- Run routine spark and similar tests following established practices and/or specific instructions
- Performs minor cable repairs, trim braid, repair jackets and perform other routine repair operations as necessary
- Check wall thickness, conductor and other diameters using micrometers and other measuring devices
- Coat wires and cable as directed
