The School District of New Berlin is looking for a compassionate indidivudal to join the Ronald Reagan Elementary team as a 4K Special Education Assistant. This part-time, hourly position follows the school-year calendar, requiring availability Monday through Friday on student school days from 11:45 am - 4:00 pm.

Under the direction of licensed educators, therapists, and clinicians, the 4K Special Education Assistant provides essential instructional, behavioral, and physical support to four-year-old kindergarten students. This role is dedicated to increasing instructional efficiency and ensuring that students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) can successfully access the curriculum in a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Tutoring and Instruction

  • Conduct small group and tutorial instruction to reinforce materials developed by licensed educators.

  • Support students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in accessing curriculum under the supervision of professional staff.

  • Assist in teaching-related activities, including the implementation of instructional strategies developed by teachers, therapists, and clinicians.

Classroom and Environment Support

  • Partner with the classroom teacher to manage daily duties, instructional preparation, and basic clerical tasks (record-keeping, word processing) to maximize efficiency.

  • Maintain a positive, orderly classroom environment that minimizes disruptions. Administer classroom rules fairly and consistently.

  • Provide active physical assistance to students with mobility needs, including transferring, lifting, carrying, and assisting with the use of braces or wheelchairs.

  • Provide active supervision and behavior management during both structured and non-structured times, including transitions, noon hour, playground/recess (in various weather conditions), lunch, and before/after school
