Job Title: Teacher Reports To: Principal Contract Length: 195 Days Primary Role: A TMSA teacher has the right mindset and skills to succeed in an environment of high expectations while also being a true team player. The teachers demonstrate the competencies, energy, and positive attitude needed to encourage and teach all students in their academic and social preparedness.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelors Degree
  • Current North Carolina teaching license or be in the process of obtaining one
  • Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required

Skills, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Knows and understands the NC State Standard Course of Study to develop proficient and effective lesson plans for grade level/subject areas.
  • Establishes a safe and orderly environment and a culture to empower students.
  • Manages various classroom behaviors and tries to minimize disruptions to learning.
  • Participates in the MTSS process and procedures at TMSA to provide equitable and valuable education for all students.
  • Demonstrates leadership behaviors from the Leader In Me program that TMSA implements schoolwide.
  • Works collaboratively with school personnel to create a professional learning community.
  • Develops goals and strategies through the school improvement plan.
  • Open to constructive feedback from lead teachers, coaches, and administrators.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction according to students needs.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to mentor and support teachers to improve the effectiveness of the department or grade level.
  • Appreciates differences and values contributions of each student by building positive, appropriate relationships.
  • Regularly assess students, both formative and summative.
  • Demonstrates technology/instructional media competency to enhance learning.
  • Work with parents and guardians to promote positive behavioral support and a respectful yet nurturing learning environment.
  • Other duties assigned by the Principal.
