    Academies of Math and Science

    4th Grade Teacher – 2026–2027 School Year

    Location: 5701 W McDowell Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85035
    Compensation Range: $48,331.25 – $54,571.88 (DOE)
    Start Date: ASAP

    Position Overview

    Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.

    AMS is seeking a passionate and dedicated 4th Grade Teacher to join our team at the AMS Desert Sky Campus for the 2026–2027 school year.

    The 4th Grade Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-aligned instruction across core elementary subjects while fostering a positive and academically rigorous classroom environment. The ideal candidate will inspire curiosity, build strong foundational skills, and support the academic and social-emotional growth of every scholar.

    AMS teachers are collaborative professionals who believe that all scholars can achieve at high levels through strong instructional practices, high expectations, and data-informed teaching.

    Key Responsibilities

    Instruction & Student Achievement

    • Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
    • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with Arizona Academic Standards and AMS curriculum.
    • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic needs of all learners.
    • Utilize formative and summative assessment data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
    • Maintain accurate student records and communicate academic progress regularly.

    Classroom Culture & Student Development

    • Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and academically focused classroom environment.
    • Implement PBIS and proactive classroom management strategies.
    • Foster critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
    • Support students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development while maintaining high expectations.

    Collaboration & Professional Growth

    • Participate in weekly professional development and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
    • Collaborate with grade-level teams, instructional coaches, and school leadership to improve student outcomes.
    • Analyze student achievement data to inform instructional decisions.
    • Contribute positively to school-wide initiatives and campus culture.

    Family Engagement

    • Maintain regular communication with families regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
    • Conduct parent-teacher conferences and support strong home-school partnerships.
    • Encourage family involvement in student learning and school activities.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field

    OR

    • Valid Arizona teaching certification appropriate for the grade level

    OR

    • Minimum of three (3) years of K–12 teaching experience

    Additionally, candidates must:

    • Hold or be eligible to obtain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
    • Demonstrate strong classroom management and instructional planning skills.
    • Show a commitment to serving Title I communities and ensuring equitable educational opportunities.
    • Utilize data to drive instructional decisions and improve student achievement.
    • Exhibit professionalism, collaboration, flexibility, and a growth mindset.
