Position Title: Heavy Truck Foreman Location: Youngstown, OH Reports To: Service Manager Department: Service Employment Type: Full-Time / Non-Exempt Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy Truck Foreman to supervise and support daily operations within our OEM dealership’s service department. This working foreman role involves dispatching jobs, mentoring technicians, ensuring repair quality, and maintaining productivity and safety standards. The ideal candidate has strong diagnostic skills, experience with Class 6–8 commercial trucks, and the leadership qualities to keep a team operating at peak performance. Key Responsibilities:
Supervise, assign, and prioritize work orders for a team of diesel technicians and apprentices
Perform hands-on diagnostic and repair work as needed, especially on complex jobs
Ensure all repairs are completed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with OEM standards
Inspect completed work to verify quality and compliance with safety protocols
Provide training, support, and mentorship to less experienced technicians
Act as a liaison between technicians, the service advisor team, and the parts department
Monitor technician productivity, flag time, and service workflow to optimize shop performance
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in accordance with OSHA and company guidelines
Support warranty and service documentation requirements
Report daily shop status to Service Manager and assist in resolving customer issues as needed
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience as a diesel technician in a dealership or fleet setting
Prior supervisory or team lead experience strongly preferred
OEM certification(s) (e.g., PACCAR, Cummins, Detroit, Volvo, Navistar) a plus
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with electrical, mechanical, and emissions systems
Proficient with OEM software (e.g., Service Ranger, Cummins Insite, Tech Tool, etc.)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to lead by example with a positive, customer-first attitude
Valid CDL (or ability to obtain) preferred
Work Environment:
Fast-paced dealership shop environment
Exposure to diesel engine noise, fumes, and moving parts
Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs and work in physically demanding conditions
