**Introduction** **Your Role and Responsibilities** IBM is hiring in the Open Source Program Office Asses open source projects critical to IBM Z strategy/business & Identify opportunities to sponsor and contribute to existing and new OSS projects. •Build and execute programs that grow the IBM Z open source community and empower contributors to do great work. •ID funding opportunities for project sponsorships / corporate memberships, etc. •Define promotion plan (i.e. how should we promote our open source efforts) within ID’d target communities •Build strategies to mobilize & activate internal & external ecosystem to achieve goals •Evangelize, engage and build out the community across new channels •Conduct research on open source trends to inform strategic technology decisions; Analyze the business impact, risks and strategic benefits of open sourcing applications, modules, tools and processes and how it could position IBM more competitively within the ISV ecosystem. • Work to establish a healthy open source community of contributors, testers and maintainers ***Preferred locations for this role: Austin, TX, San Jose, CA, Poughkeepsie, NY, RTP, NC*** At IBM, work is more than a job - it's a calling: To build. If so, lets talk. ses open source projects critical to IBM Z strategy/business & Identify opportunities to sponsor and contribute to existing and new OSS projects. • Build and execute programs that grow the IBM Z open source community and empower contributors to do great work. • ID funding opportunities for project sponsorships / corporate memberships, etc. • Define promotion plan (i.e. how should we promote our open source efforts) within ID’d target communities • Build strategies to mobilize & activate internal & external ecosystem to achieve goals • Evangelize, engage and build out the community across new channels • Conduct research on open source trends to inform strategic technology decisions; Analyze the business impact, risks and strategic benefits of open sourcing applications, modules, tools and processes and how it could position IBM more competitively within the ISV ecosystem. • Work to establish a healthy open source community of contributors, testers and maintainers **Required Technical and Professional Expertise** + 5-7 years of experience participating in and building open source communities + Ability to understand, distill, and communicate complex technical concepts to a wide audience + Facilitating complex and sensitive community mgmt situations with humility, tact, and humor + Proficiency with tools for community management (e.g. Slack, Discourse, Gitter, Twitter, Github) & CI tooling (e.g. Travis CI, Coveralls, CircleCI). + Software development capabilities and experience with multiple programming languages/environments, such as Python, JavaScript, Java, Scala, or Go. + Building and growing developer communities + Organizing, promoting, and running large developer-focused events. + Managing sustainable organizational programs with many distributed stakeholders + Passionate for open-source, you get why it exists, why it works, and where it makes the most sense. **Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise** + Open-source licenses and general open-source compliance issues + Experience with machine learning, open data, blockchain and containers. + Prior experience working with IBM Z products and solutions **About Business Unit** IBM Systems helps IT leaders think differently about their infrastructure.
