Position Summary: The 5S & Facilities Technician supports manufacturing operations by improving workplace organization, cleanliness, visual standards, and basic facility upkeep throughout the plant. This role works under the direction of the Manufacturing Facilities Engineering Manager while working closely operations leaders regarding priorities.

The primary responsibility of the position is to establish and sustain 5S workplace standards by cleaning, organizing, labeling, and visually standardizing production and support areas. Once standards are established, the role transitions into ongoing facility support and light maintenance activities.

Key Results Areas by level of work

Level I: Quality - Complete and accurate work performed efficiently

5S / Workplace Organization

  • Clean, organize, and standardize assigned manufacturing and support areas
  • Remove unnecessary materials and improve workplace layout and organization
  • Assist with implementation of 5S principles
  • Create visual workplace standards including but not limited to:
  • Before/after photos
  • Standard condition photos
  • Labeling and signage
  • Shadow boards and storage identification
  • Print and post standard condition photos in work areas
  • Coordinate with area supervisors to transfer ownership of sustaining standards

Facilities & Plant Support

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of common plant areas \
  • Support production readiness by ensuring work areas remain orderly and functional
  • Assist with cleanliness and organization of tools, fixtures, materials, and equipment
  • Support plant appearance initiatives for customer visits and audits

Light Maintenance Duties

After primary 5S implementation activities are completed, responsibilities will expand to include but not be limited to:

  • Changing HVAC and equipment filters
  • Replacing light bulbs and minor facility hardware
  • Performing basic preventative maintenance tasks
  • Assisting maintenance personnel with non-technical support work
  • Reporting facility or equipment issues requiring skilled maintenance attention
  • Salting and clearing of facilities entrances in the winter

Requirements

Qualifications:

To qualify for this position, an individual must possess the knowledge, training, experience and abilities required.

Education and Training

  • High school GED Required

Experience:

  • 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing or similar setting

Other:

  • Must be willing to work overtime as required
  • Ability to use basic hand tools safely
