Description:
The District is seeking a qualified 5th Grade Long-Term Substitute Teacher to provide high-quality instruction within a general education classroom setting. This position will begin approximately December 11, 2026, and continue through the end of the 2026-2027 school year.
The substitute teacher will be responsible for continuing the instructional program established for the classroom, supporting student learning and maintaining a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong instructional and classroom management skills, establish positive relationships with students, and work collaboratively with grade-level teams, support staff, and families to promote student success.
Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) appropriate for the assignment
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field preferred
- Elementary Education endorsement preferred/required as applicable
- Previous teaching or classroom experience preferred
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging instruction aligned to grade-level standards and established classroom plans
- Support and differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
- Monitor and assess student progress
- Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and structured classroom environment
- Implement classroom routines, procedures, and expectations
- Collaborate with grade-level colleagues, support staff, and administration
- Communicate appropriately with students, families, and staff
- Maintain accurate student records and complete required documentation
- Participate in professional development, meetings, and school activities as appropriate
- Support the District's educational philosophy, goals, and student achievement initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
- May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 20 pounds

Compensation:
$250 per day
This is a long-term substitute position beginning approximately December 11, 2026, and continuing through the end of the 2026-2027 school year.
