VHB seeks an Environmental Project Manager to join our Worcester, MA office. We are hiring a senior professional to help grow our Environmental Resources Team. VHB provides environmental planning, permitting, water resources, sustainability, preservation, and remediation services to airports, state departments of transportation, municipalities and other entities. With a focus on strategic permitting strategy, policy development, compliance, and supporting technical analysis, VHB helps nation-wide clients meet regulatory requirements and achieve their goals. Candidates for this position should demonstrate their ability to lead project teams, supervise and develop staff, provide excellent client service with innovative and strategic solutions, and conduct business development.

VHB provides permitting services to transportation agencies, institutions, municipal, and real estate clients to help them successfully define the project’s purpose and need, develop alternatives, analyze environmental impacts, and develop mitigation programs. Our NEPA services include agency coordination, public outreach, and GIS/mapping. Candidates should provide information on their permitting and NEPA experience.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with and grow VHB’s Environmental Practice
• Mentor and develop staff
• Manage project teams and technical sub-consultants
• Coordinate with clients
• Identify and pursue new business
• Develop project scopes of work, fee estimates, and schedules
• Plan and participate in stakeholder meetings, public workshops, and public hearings
• Conduct technical analysis and report writing
• Provide quality assurance and control
• Help ensure VHB maintains levels of technical excellence among all staff

Qualifications

• BS/BA (Masters or higher preferred) in urban planning, environmental planning, environmental science, or a related field
• 15+ years of professional experience in environmental consulting or related field
• Advanced study or equivalent experience in environmental science, urban planning, or institutional planning a plus
• Experience with stakeholder facilitation, public presentations, and public hearings
• Knowledge of airports, transportation authorities, and local governments
• Writing samples and references will be required
