The Fountain Group is currently seeking a­­­­­­­­Composites Engineer for a prominent client of ours.  This position is located in ­­Mesa, AZ. Details for the position are as follows:

 

Job Description:

Pay: $69.63/hour

Shift: 2nd Shift

Duration: 12-months – potential to extend or convert based on performance and budget.

Overview:

Are you a hands-on materials and processes engineer who thrives at the intersection of lab, factory, and design? Join ***’s Composite Materials Fabrication Site in Mesa, AZ, and help shape advanced aerospace platforms. We’re looking for a motivated, collaborative engineer—either early-career or experienced—who’s passionate about composites, polymer chemistry, failure analysis, and production problem-solving.

  • Apply chemistry, physics, and material science to develop and qualify composite materials and processing methods
  • Provide technical evaluation and material and process support to composite part fabrication
  • Perform root-cause investigations and implement corrective & preventive actions for material and process issues
  • Create and execute test plans, write reports and input to specifications for materials, tools, and processes
  • Qualify and approve equipment, materials and processes
  • Guide material testing in the Materials & Processes Laboratory
  • Coordinate with other disciplines such as Design Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement
  • Travel to suppliers as needed
  • Integrate new technologies and promote standardization across product lines
  • Manage test/audit programs, ensure regulatory and contractual compliance, and incorporate EHS, LEAN, and Quality principles into your work
  • This role is full-time 2nd shift and is expected to be 100% onsite

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required.

2+ years of experience working with composites, elastomers or related techniques required – co-op and internships do count towards experience.

Hands-on lab experience with polymer chemistry analytical techniques.

Familiarity with materials such as epoxy, cyanate ester, bismaleimide, urethane, polyimide, reinforcements, and adhesives.

Experience with composite failure modes (structural and nonstructural) and failure analysis.

Experience in technical specifications, reports, and test plans.

Comfortable reading engineering drawings and using Microsoft Office.
