Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking an experienced 6G Pipe Welder for a skilled fabrication opportunity in Claremore. This position is responsible for setting up and operating advanced welding equipment, producing high-quality pipe welds, troubleshooting welding issues, and ensuring completed work meets required specifications and quality standards.
Candidates must have at least 2 years of pipe welding experience, including 2 years of TIG welding experience, and be proficient with TIG, MIG, and Flux Core welding processes.
Qualified candidates must successfully complete both an Open Root 3G MIG/Flux Core test and a 6G TIG Root/Flux Core test on 2-inch Schedule 160 pipe.
Required Experience & Skills

Ability to successfully complete 3G and 6G weld testing
Open-root welding experience

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform pipe welding using TIG, MIG, and Flux Core processes
Set up advanced welding equipment according to job requirements
Complete open-root welding as required
Perform TIG root passes on pipe assemblies
Complete Flux Core fill and cap passes
Perform MIG welding according to applicable specifications
Read and interpret fabrication blueprints
Follow welding specifications and work instructions
Prepare materials and joints for welding
Monitor welding equipment and make appropriate adjustments
Inspect completed welds for quality and workmanship
Identify weld defects and production concerns
Repair defective welds efficiently
Maintain acceptable appearance and quality on repaired areas
Troubleshoot welding issues to reduce scrap and rework
Help minimize unnecessary equipment downtime
Maintain clean and organized work areas
Follow all company safety and quality procedures
Work with supervisors and team members to meet production goals

The 2-inch Schedule 160 pipe test requires strong control and precision, making previous hands-on TIG pipe welding experience essential.
Welding Equipment Setup
Set up welding machines for assigned processes
Verify equipment settings before welding
Make appropriate adjustments during production
Monitor welding-machine performance
Identify equipment or process concerns
Troubleshoot problems affecting weld quality
Maintain equipment according to applicable procedures
Blueprint & Specification Responsibilities
Read and interpret fabrication blueprints
Review applicable welding specifications
Identify joint configurations and requirements
Follow required welding processes and sequences
Verify completed work against applicable specifications
Identify discrepancies before or during welding
Communicate drawing or specification concerns promptly
Quality & Weld Repair
Inspect completed welds for visible defects
Maintain consistent penetration and workmanship
Identify welding defects
Determine appropriate repair requirements
Prepare defective areas for repair
Complete repair welds efficiently
Maintain acceptable repair appearance
Help reduce scrap and unnecessary rework
Ensure completed welding meets required quality standards
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced 6G Pipe Welder experience
Heavy-wall pipe welding experience
Extensive TIG pipe welding experience
Previous 2-inch Schedule 160 welding experience
Open-root welding experience
Advanced Flux Core experience
Previous 3G plate welding experience
Manufacturing or fabrication welding experience
Strong blueprint-reading skills
Weld repair and troubleshooting experience
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
Ability to weld in 6G and other required positions
Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, carrying, positioning, pushing, and pulling
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required for precision pipe welding
Ability to safely handle pipe, welding equipment, and fabrication tools
Comfortable working around welding equipment, grinders, heat, sparks, and industrial machinery
Ability to perform physically demanding fabrication work while wearing required PPE
