Pay:$28.00–$35.00 per hour(DOE | Target Rate: $30.00/hour)

Position Overview

Stand-By Personnel is seeking an experienced 6G Pipe Welder to join a premier industrial fabrication team in Catoosa. This position requires extensive pipe welding experience with a strong emphasis on TIG welding and the ability to produce high-quality welds using TIG, MIG, and Flux Core processes.

The ideal candidate has at least two years of TIG welding experience, a strong pipe welding background, and the ability to successfully complete both a 3G plate test and a demanding 6G pipe test.




Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2 years of TIG welding experience required
• Previous pipe welding experience in a fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial environment
• Experience welding in multiple positions, including 6G
• Proficiency with TIG, MIG, and Flux Core welding processes
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and fabrication drawings
• Ability to read and follow welding procedures and specifications
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Ability to successfully complete required hands-on welding tests
• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
• Strong commitment to workplace safety




Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform pipe welding using TIG (GTAW), MIG (GMAW), and Flux Core (FCAW) processes
• Weld pipe in multiple positions, including the 6G position
• Perform TIG root passes according to required welding procedures
• Complete Flux Core fill and cap passes on applicable pipe welds
• Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and welding specifications
• Prepare and position pipe and materials for welding operations
• Produce high-quality welds that meet company and industry standards
• Inspect completed welds for quality, accuracy, and visible defects
• Safely operate welding machines, grinders, and related fabrication equipment
• Maintain productivity while meeting production and project deadlines
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Follow all company safety procedures, welding requirements, and quality standards
• Perform additional pipe welding and fabrication duties as assigned




Weld Test Requirements

Candidates must successfully complete both welding tests.

3G Plate Test

• Open Root MIG Weld
• Flux Core Fill and Cap
• Must successfully pass visual inspection before advancing to the 6G pipe test

6G Pipe Test

• 2-inch Schedule 160 Pipe
• 6G welding position
• TIG Root
• Flux Core Fill and Cap




Testing Schedule

• Pipe weld tests are conducted in the morning only
• Candidates should plan for approximately 4 hours of testing
• Advancement to the pipe test is dependent upon successfully passing the 3G plate test




Preferred Qualifications

• Extensive 6G pipe welding experience
• Heavy industrial or code-quality pipe fabrication experience
• Strong TIG root experience
• Experience welding heavy-wall pipe
• Advanced blueprint and weld symbol interpretation skills
• Fit-up and pipe fabrication experience


• Experience producing welds subject to strict inspection and quality requirements

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
• Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and working in multiple pipe welding positions
• Ability to safely operate welding and fabrication equipment while wearing required PPE
• Comfortable working around pipe, heavy steel, welding equipment, grinders, heat, sparks, fumes, and industrial machinery
• Ability to perform physically demanding fabrication work throughout the workday




Work Environment

• Heavy industrial pipe welding and fabrication facility
• Regular use of TIG, MIG, and Flux Core welding equipment
• Hands-on work involving heavy-wall pipe and industrial fabrication components
• Exposure to industrial noise, heat, sparks, fumes, heavy materials, and production machinery
• Fast-paced environment focused on safety, weld quality, and production efficiency
