6th Grade English Language Arts Teacher Invent Learning Hub - Indianapolis, IN Position Overview Invent Learning Hub ILH is seeking a passionate student-centered and growth-minded 6th Grade English Language Arts ELA Teacher to join our innovative charter school community. The ideal candidate believes deeply in literacy as a foundation for lifelong success and is committed to fostering critical thinking, creativity, and strong communication skills in every student. This teacher will create an engaging, rigorous, and supportive classroom environment aligned to Indiana Academic Standards while embodying ILHs mission of innovation, growth, and whole-child development. About Invent Learning Hub Invent Learning Hub is an independent public charter school located on the southeast side of Indianapolis. Now in our 7th year, ILH is grounded in innovation, high expectations, and a belief that every child can grow. We emphasize strong relationships, personalized learning, and a collaborative professional culture. Essential Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum: • Plan and deliver engaging standards-aligned 6th grade ELA instruction. • Teach reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, speaking, and listening skills. • Design lessons that promote critical thinking, analysis of complex texts, and structured writing. • Incorporate diverse texts and culturally responsive materials. • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including students with IEPs and English Learners. • Use formative and summative assessment data to inform instruction. Classroom Culture: • Establish and maintain a positive, structured, and student-centered classroom environment. • Build strong relationships with students and families. • Foster a love of reading and writing. • Maintain high expectations for academic achievement and character development. Collaboration & Professional Growth: • Collaborate with grade-level and content teams to plan interdisciplinary learning. • Participate actively in professional development and coaching cycles. • Communicate regularly and professionally with families. • Contribute positively to ILHs collaborative staff culture. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Education or related field. Valid Indiana teaching license or ability to obtain one. Demonstrated knowledge of middle school literacy instruction. Strong classroom management skills. Commitment to educational equity and student growth. Preferred Experience Teaching middle school ELA. Experience in a charter school setting. Familiarity with data-driven instruction and MTSS frameworks. Experience integrating technology into instruction. Key Competencies Strong instructional planning and delivery.
