This is a 1.0 FTE position as a 6th Grade High Ability Language Arts teacher for the 2026-2027 school year at Lafayette Sunnyside Intermediate School. Applicants must be licensed from the State of Indiana in Elementary Education or in Language Arts covering grades 5 and 6. High Ability credentials preferred but not required. Consideration will be given to applicants who are enrolled in a state-approved Transition to Teaching program or who are eligible for an Emergency Permit in Elementary Education assuming the prerequisite skills are possessed. Those already on a certified contract with the Lafayette School Corporation should complete an INTERNAL application by Wednesday, June 24, 2026. Position Summary
The 6th Grade High Ability Language Arts Teacher at Sunnyside Intermediate School is responsible for providing rigorous, engaging, and differentiated instruction designed to meet the academic and intellectual needs of high-ability learners. The teacher fosters advanced reading, writing, critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills through a challenging curriculum that encourages inquiry, creativity, and independent learning.
