JOB TITLES: Sixth Grade Social Studies Teacher - Platteville Middle School

CLASSIFICATION: Professional Staff/Long Term Substitute

JOB OBJECTIVE: The Platteville School District is looking for candidates to fulfill long term substitute teaching positions in 6th Grade Social Studies.

Timeline: On or around September 14th, 2026 through December 11th, 2026

Requirements: A bachelor''s degree and substitute teaching license are necessary.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Wisconsin Teaching License or substitute license.

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university

  • Experience with middle school students is a benefit, but not required.

  • Ability and desire to support student growth.

  • Display a positive, professional and proactive attitude in working with colleagues and supervisors

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Delivery of instruction in the subject areas of social studies with some small group support in math and/or reading.

  • Manage instructional environment

  • Collaborate with 6th grade general education and special education teachers on a daily basis

  • Collaborate with Middle School Social Studies team weekly

  • Create daily lesson plans that are engaging and aligned with district essential learning outcomes.

  • Grading and documentation of student progress.

  • Administration of assessments and Data analysis of student growth.

  • Differentiation within the classroom to meet the academic, social/emotional and behavioral needs of students

  • Understanding of social emotional development of students and how to support that within the classroom setting.

  • Collaboration with school colleagues, families, and community members to support the learning of all students.

  • Participating within collaborative teams as part of our greater Professional Learning Community (PLC) efforts

  • Other duties as assigned.
