Hayes Intermediate School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a full-time 6th Grade Teacher that will be primarily teaching ELA. The ideal candidate will foster a positive and engaging learning environment that encourages students to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This role involves designing and implementing a curriculum that meets educational standards while catering to the diverse needs of students. The 6th Grade Teacher will work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the community to support student growth and achievement.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and cater to various learning styles.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through formal and informal assessments, providing timely feedback to students and parents.
- Create a positive classroom environment that promotes respect, responsibility, and a love for learning.
- Implement classroom management strategies to maintain a productive and safe learning space.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to enhance curriculum and share best practices.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, classroom activities, and school events.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends and practices.
- Support students in developing social-emotional skills and encourage positive peer relationships.
- Organize and participate in school events, field trips, and extracurricular activities.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other required documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification for the state of Michigan.
- Experience teaching at the elementary or middle school level is preferred.
- -Experience with the Amplify ELA curriculum is preferred.
- Strong understanding of curriculum development and instructional strategies for diverse learners.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage students, parents, and colleagues.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance teaching and learning.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive school culture.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement in teaching practices.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
