Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to serve students in grades 7-12. The ideal candidate will provide individualized instruction, support diverse learning needs, and collaborate with staff and families to ensure student success.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Provide direct instruction using differentiated strategies to meet diverse learning needs
- Adapt curriculum, assignments, and assessments as needed
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation
- Collaborate with general education teachers in inclusive and co-teaching settings
- Implement effective classroom and behavior management strategies
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians and participate in IEP meetings
- Work closely with support staff and related service providers
- Ensure compliance with all special education laws and district policies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
- Valid teaching license/certification in Special Education (7-12 or applicable range)
- Knowledge of IDEA and special education compliance requirements
- Experience working with middle and/or high school students preferred
