Join UCLA Radiation Oncology as a Senior Dosimetrist, where you'll play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care through precise and innovative treatment planning. Working closely with Radiation Oncology physicians, you will help design and support radiation therapy treatments that directly impact patient outcomes.
In addition to clinical responsibilities, youxe2x80x99ll contribute to quality improvement projects, educational activities, and uphold UCLAxe2x80x99s high standards of care and compassion.
We treat with advanced machines such as TrueBeams, TrueBeam STx, Novalis Tx, Varian Ethos, and ViewRay MRIdian, along with an active interstitial HDR brachytherapy program. Treatment planning is conducted using various systems and software. As part of the Medical Physics Division, medical dosimetrists handle SBRT, IMRT, 3D conformal, total body irradiation, and HDR brachytherapy treatment planning.

Required:
Certification by the American Board of Medical Dosimetry or eligibility to sit for the exam required for Dosimetrist
Bachelors degree or higher
3 years of full-time dosimetry experience preferred
Knowledgeable in the operation of radiotherapy equipment, including linear accelerators, cobalt teletherapy units, simulators, dosimetric equipment, brachytherapy equipment, computerized treatment planning systems, and record and verification/patient information management systems.
Proficient in external beam and brachytherapy treatment planning.
Ability to perform and analyze in-vivo and in-phantom measurements.
xe2x80xa2tKnowledgeable of current radiotherapy treatment techniques.
xe2x80xa2tAbility to assess and plot radiation dose distributions.
xe2x80xa2tSkill in providing treatment planning and dose-calculation services for patient treatment and diagnosis with external, interstitial, intracavitary, and distributed internal sources.
xe2x80xa2tKnowledge of the principles of radiation safety and Health Physics.
Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, clinical oncology, radiobiology, radiation physics.
Experience in the reading of x-ray films to determine anatomical sites.
Ability to exercise independent judgment and problem-solving in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care within the context of radiotherapy.
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, to exercise diplomacy in dealing with others, to secure cooperation from colleagues, and to communicate effectively with patients and medical staff.
Ability to appropriately interact with and provide special assistance to various age groups of patients, i.e., pediatric and geriatric patients.
Ability to work variable shifts, including evenings and weekends.Skill in mathematics including algebra and trigonometry
