    PRIMARY PURPOSE:

    To serve as a member of the multidisciplinary evaluation team to conduct evaluations to determine eligibility for special education services; conduct and facilitate ARD meetings in accordance with federal and state procedures and regulations

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education/Certification:

    • Certified by SBEC as an Educational Diagnostician

    Special Knowledge/ Skills/Experience:

    • Knowledge, practice, and interpretation of common assessment tools used in the determination of special education disability conditions. Knowledge and practice in the areas of academic instruction and strategies, data-based decision making, and legal, ethical, and professional practices. At least one year experience or practicum in a school setting, preferred.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

    • Conduct Full Individual Evaluations as part of the multidisciplinary evaluation team to identify students who may be eligible for special education services

    • Utilize the District Special Education Software IEP program to keep accurate ARD information on all special education students

    • Work collaboratively with campus administration and teacher of record to ensure State Assessment requirements are fulfilled and current State Assessment information is available for appropriate personnel

    • Collaborate with students, parents, and other members of staff to develop the IEP through the ARD committee process for each student assigned

    • Facilitate and conduct the ARD committee meetings on a regular basis using the District Special Education Software IEP program

    • Monitor implementation of the IEP/ARD and support service recommendations

    • Assist special education teachers in developing appropriate IEPs for their students

    • Collaborate with Intervention Assistance Teams (IAT) Chair as appropriate

    • Collaborate, assist, and coordinate:

    • Implementation of effective instructional strategies and modifications

    • Appropriate instructional strategies/activities

    • Use of learning strategies, materials, and equipment

    • With regular education classroom teacher to modify regular curriculum or differentiate instruction

    • Consult district and outside resource people regarding education, social, medical, and personal needs of students

    • Establish and maintain professional communication with parents, students, principals, teachers, team leaders and supervisor

    • Provide ongoing information to parents regarding Transition services

    • Maintain a professional relationships with supervisor, team leaders, colleagues, students, parents, and community members

    • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly

    • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required

    • Participation in staff development activities to improve job-related skills

    • Maintain understanding of and comply with federal, state, district, department and school procedures, regulations, and policies for the special education process

    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Special Education or their designee
