JOB TITLE: 7th Grade Head Boys Basketball Coach

REPORTS TO: Middle School Athletic Director

ESSENTIAL AND IMPORTANT DUTIES:

• Serve as a positive role model to the players and parents
• Teach skills through effectively planned practices at a level appropriate for each member of the team
• Condition athletes appropriately for activities requiring endurance, strength and agility
• Responsible for all aspects of directing the team's practice and play in games
• Teach sportsmanship, cooperation, work ethic and responsibility to one's team
• Monitor players personal conduct during games
• Manage equipment
• Perform related duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to work well with middle school aged children
• A solid understanding of the games fundamentals, strategies, and age-appropriate skill development is crucial.
• The ability to lead effectively, communicate clearly with students, parents, and staff, and foster a positive team environment is essential.
• Willingness to learn and follow district rules and guidelines regarding youth sports
• Prior coaching/playing experience is helpful but not required.
