Primary Purpose:

To develop and deliver engaging, standards-based math instruction that meets the needs of diverse learners. The teacher will foster numeracy, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking in a structured and supportive learning environment aligned with Sheldon ISD's goals and Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate in Math 48 or Core Subjects 48 with Math component
  • ESL certification preferred or willingness to obtain within one year

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong understanding of middle school math TEKS and effective math pedagogy
  • Ability to implement data-driven instruction and differentiate based on student need
  • Proficient in classroom management and student engagement techniques
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Strategies:

  • Design and deliver lessons that align with the district's curriculum and state standards
  • Implement instructional strategies that build conceptual understanding and math fluency
  • Use manipulatives, technology, and real-world applications to enhance instruction
  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate learning styles, special populations, and varying skill levels

Classroom Environment:

  • Establish and maintain a positive classroom climate that encourages student participation
  • Implement consistent procedures and expectations for behavior and academic success
  • Maintain effective classroom organization and routines

Assessment and Data:

  • Use a variety of assessment tools to monitor student progress
  • Analyze assessment data to adjust instruction and provide interventions or enrichment
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of student achievement

Professional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with grade-level and content-area teams in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
  • Participate in campus and district professional development sessions
  • Communicate regularly with students, families, and colleagues to support academic success

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
  • Frequent standing, walking, and lifting of instructional materials
  • Classroom setting with occasional after-school or evening duties
  • Salary is commensurate with experience
  • Minimum Salary $67,200 for fully certified teachers
  • Please note that this role requires in-person attendance and is not eligible for remote work.
