NATURE OF WORK ----------------
Responsible for receiving requests for information, non-emergency and/or emergency assistance from the general public, law enforcement, fire and medical personnel. Work is performed under the general direction of the Public Safety Communications Officer Supervisor or Public Safety Answering Point Manager/9-1-1 Director.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF WORK -----------------------------
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE -------------------------
High School diploma or equivalent.
Six months of experience as a public safety dispatcher (desired, not required).

Work is conducted in an open office environment with multiple stations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS -----------------
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, reach, ride and perform similar body movements. Must have the ability to perform light physical work and to lift and carry up to 25 pounds at a time; the possession of hand/eye coordination sufficient to operate a personal computer, office equipment and a motor vehicle; the ability to talk and hear in person or by telephone; and the ability to see and read instructions and reports.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK ------------------------
The work schedule is 40-hours per week, Sunday through Saturday with rotating shifts and days off. We currently operate on the Panama Schedule, which consists of 12-hour shifts. Every two months, employees rotate between day and night shifts. This schedule follows a pattern of 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, and 3 days off. This rotation gives employees every other weekend off. This position is a non-exempt and eligible for overtime. Any overtime must be authorized prior to working.
TRAVEL --------
Travel is primarily local during the business day. Occasional travel may be required to attend off-site training and educational opportunities.
