    ## Position Summary

    The Medical Record Specialist is responsible for maintaining, organizing, and safeguarding patient medical records while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with healthcare regulations. This role supports healthcare providers by managing patient information, processing record requests, and ensuring timely documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems.

    ## Key Responsibilities

    \n


    \n

    * Maintain, organize, and update patient medical records in electronic and paper formats.

    \n

    * Review medical records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory standards.

    \n

    * Retrieve, file, scan, and archive patient documents as needed.

    \n

    * Process requests for medical records while ensuring compliance with privacy laws and organizational policies.

    \n

    * Protect the confidentiality of patient information in accordance with applicable healthcare regulations.

    \n

    * Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff to resolve documentation issues.

    \n

    * Monitor documentation for missing or incomplete information and follow up with appropriate staff.

    \n

    * Ensure accurate data entry into electronic health record (EHR) systems.

    \n

    * Prepare reports and maintain record retention according to organizational policies.

    \n

    * Assist with audits, accreditation activities, and quality improvement initiatives.

    \n

    ## Qualifications

    \n


    \n

    * High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Health Information Management or a related field preferred.

    \n

    * Previous experience in medical records, health information management, or a healthcare administrative role preferred.

    \n

    * Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare documentation.

    \n

    * Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.

    \n

    * Understanding of healthcare privacy and confidentiality regulations.

    \n

    * Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and general computer skills.

    \n

    * Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.

    \n

    * Excellent communication and customer service skills.

    \n

    * Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

    \n
