We are collecting massive amounts of agronomic data in one of the largest heterogeneous global data footprints and need to continuously improve how we store, connect and distribute this data in a fast, reliable and cost-effective way. This is where your work impacts the world in a positive way. The Principal Data Infrastructure Architect works to define an extremely complex domain of data and data access patterns. The right candidate will have a track record of delivering highly complex engineering architectures focused on data pipelines. **What You Will Do:** + Lead sessions with business, agricultural and technical experts to solicit and document requirements + Gather industry technical and scientific knowledge about agricultural data and apply it towards defining the optimal data models, data storage and architectures + Collaborate with the Enterprise Data Architect to design and mentor engineering teams with optimized models that enforce data quality while balancing optimized access patterns + Consult and advise engineers, analysts, architects, managers and executives + Assist product teams with operational data models + Promote data governance, quality and security across the enterprise **Basic Qualifications:** + Bachelor's degree in an engineering or scientific field or 10+ years of experience in big data + Deep understanding of databases, Big Data technology and software architecture, optimizations and tradeoffs + Experience in AWS cloud technologies and cloud-optimized data and software architectures **Preferred Qualifications:** + Master's or PhD in computer science + Expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical data model design + Demonstrated ability to find the optimal level of abstraction to balance flexibility and comprehension + Production work with RDF databases implementing complex data ontologies + 5+ years owning and maintaining the corporate data catalog or data dictionary + Deep experience in dimensional and 3NF data model design + Experience modeling data structures for document, column family and graph databases. + Knowledge of agriculture + Previous experience building data models in a scientific domain + Physical modeling for data science and machine learning use cases + Exceptional technical documentation + Ability to understand and teach on very complex subject matter + Design and deliver highly-scalable, reliable, and performant pipelines to integrate large volumes of complex data + Oversee the mapping of data sources, data movement, interfaces, and analytics + Mentor engineers and analysts on data modeling, querying and architecture, as well as the specifics of the business domains **What We Offer:** Our teams are composed of industry experts, top scientists, and talented engineers.
