Description We are seeking a Global Energy Research & Analysis Lead - North America to drive the monitoring and analysis of national and regional energy trends with a specific focus on electricity and grids. The role will be based in Washington DC. The scope of this role will include research analysis and developmentcontribution to thought leadership position papers and reports on key areas related to market and technology trendslonger-term policy and regulatory developments institutional advocacy inputs shaping the future of the North American power system. You will also track the structural shifts across federal regional and state institutions. You will provide strategic input to support the organization in anticipating and contributing to shaping the energy landscape in the coming decades.Your insights will also feed into international outlooks and support planning and decision-making across the company. Reporting to the Global Head of Government and Institutional Relations this role requires a solid understanding of the power sector and a strong grasp of energy policy as well as excellent analytical skills underpinning a passion for shaping the future.
Key Responsibilities
Research Analysis knowledge Management and strategic insights • Build and maintain a structured searchable knowledge base of long-term policy initiatives regulatory reforms planning guidelines and market-design initiatives across North America • Develop dashboards or thematic trackers for major long-term trends e.g. grid expansion and modernization interconnections system operation reforms and the deployment of digital solutions. • Craft high-quality strategic briefs long-term trend analyses and implication papers for internal decision-makers and for inclusion in an international outlook. • Develop and contribute to position papers and reports on key areas related to market and technology trends
Policy & Regulatory Intelligence • You will interpret and synthesize long-term structural developments across federal regional and state energy policy as relevant to our business • You will keep track of geopolitical and geoeconomic developments and their possible implications for the company • You will leverage reports and analysis from relevant Think Tanks and other institutions as well as key national policy and regulatory institutions across the region focusing on multi-year implications to provide input on potential policy and regulatory changes that can impact our businesses.
Stakeholder Engagement • Early engagement with relevant stakeholders on how potential policy and regulatory developments can impact Hitachi Energy businesses in the mediumlong term • Provide strategic insights to support market and technology positioning product development and investment decisions. • Support contributions to strategic dialogues foresight initiatives and high-level industry forums focused on long-term energy transition.
Collaboration • You will collaborate internally with the CGR team as well as key businesses and functions across the company as relevant to maximize synergies as well as ensure alignment and compliance. • Externally you will represent the company in working groups and forums as well as institutional and industry coalitions as required.
Qualifications • MastersBachelors degree in engineering Energy Public Policy Political Science or relatedfield with at least 10-12 years of relevant power sector experience • Deep understanding of the region and associated policy and regulatory frameworks and processes. • Strong writing research and communication skills and experience with the ability to translate complex issues into actionable insights. • Experience with knowledge management tools and data visualization platforms is a plus.
Must have US work authorization.
Competitive base salary 160-220K based on experience.
