Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Location: Rochester, NY
Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
 
Summary:
Nesco Resource is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support advanced manufacturing operations in Rochester, NY. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing thin-film coating equipment, vacuum systems, and facility infrastructure to maximize equipment uptime and production efficiency. The ideal candidate has experience with industrial maintenance, vacuum systems, electronics, or automated manufacturing equipment and enjoys solving complex technical challenges in a fast-paced environment.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain thin-film coating equipment and associated vacuum systems
  • Diagnose equipment failures and perform root cause analysis to improve reliability and uptime
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment
  • Support continuous improvement projects focused on equipment performance and efficiency
  • Maintain and support facility systems, including HVAC, compressed air, and chilled water systems
  • Work closely with Engineering and Manufacturing to improve equipment reliability and production performance
  • Utilize electrical, optical, and mechanical test equipment to diagnose system performance
  • Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and records
  • Follow all safety procedures and company standards while supporting manufacturing operations
Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree in a technical field plus 3+ years of relevant experience, or 6+ years of related industrial maintenance experience
  • Experience troubleshooting industrial equipment, vacuum systems, or automated manufacturing equipment
  • Experience with high-vacuum deposition systems preferred
  • Experience with ion sources and electron guns is a plus
  • Knowledge of electronics, mechanical systems, and industrial troubleshooting techniques
  • Experience with HVAC, compressed air, chilled water, or facility systems preferred
  • Familiarity with oscilloscopes, spectrophotometers, interferometers, and other diagnostic equipment is a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
  • Manufacturing environment supporting advanced coating and machining operations
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and equipment troubleshooting throughout the shift
  • Exposure to industrial equipment, electronics, vacuum systems, and production machinery
  • Ability to work safely around electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Flexibility to support production with occasional overtime, weekends, or holidays as needed
Additional Requirements:
  • Must be eligible to access ITAR/EAR-controlled information (U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident status required)
 
 
Pay Rate:
$26.00 – $31.00/hour, based on experience
Shift:
Day Shift
Some schedule flexibility required to support production needs, including occasional overtime, weekends, or holidays
