We have an exciting opportunity for a Materials Engineer to join our GA-EMS Special Processes team located in Rancho Bernardo, CA.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


+ Review Design DWGs for correct material specifications, coatings and processing requirements

+ Review and approve material certificates, test reports, heat treatment and other relevant documentation from vendors

+ Perform on site audits at test facilities and mills supplying material to GA and GA’s subs.

+ Perform RCCA/FRACAS investigations and evaluations of material failures.

+ Establish control plans/processes for high risk materials.

+ Provide technical guidance and direction for metal, composites and ceramic application

+ Resolve material issues and non-conformance’s in production and R&D applications.

+ Supports operation of engineering systems by evaluating and interpreting needs and problems and develops effective approaches to resolving those issues.

+ Troubleshoots, analyzes, and repairs systems in assigned area by utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles.

+ Provides documentation and makes technical presentations as required.

+ Directs the activities of designers, technicians and may direct the activities of less experienced professional staff.

+ May represent the organization in providing solutions to technical issues associated with specific projects.

+ Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Full-Time/Part-Time: Full-Time Salary


Job Qualifications:


+ Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, seven or more years of experience with a masters degree, or four or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.

+ US Citizenship is required.

+ Must have a complete understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.

+ Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.

+ Must have excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one engineering area; and, lead a team of less experienced professional employees on semi-routine tasks.

+ Able to work extended hours as required.

+ A Professional Engineering License is desirable.

+ Experience with SAP and NDE methods is a plus.

+ Knowledge of welding, brazing and other materials joining processes is desirable.

+ Knowledgeable with ceramics, composites applications and process.
