Abuse Investigator (Temporary)

About the Position

This position serves as the designee for Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) and the Office of Training, Investigations and Safety (OTIS) as an Adult Abuse Investigator.

Core functions include:

• Screening reports of abuse regarding individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

• Assessing health and safety risks and the need for protective services

• Determining if abuse reports meet criteria for investigation

• Conducting in-depth/sensitive investigations

• Forensic interviewing

• Field-based evidence & information gathering

• Preparing comprehensive written reports

• Testifying in administrative hearings

• Significant collaboration with DDS staff and other community partners
  

This position also involves providing training to DDS staff and community partners.

Lane County Developmental Disabilities Services strives to provide a responsive, cooperative lifespan delivery system of support, training, care, monitoring, protection and crisis response for persons with developmental disabilities and their families. Schedule: Monday - Friday; shift will vary. Schedule will be determined upon hire. This position offers 20 hours per week.

*Hybrid telework may be optional or a condition of employment depending on the needs of the division at the time of hire.

*This position is budgeted for a maximum of 1,040 hours during the fiscal year.*

Training:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in human, social, behavioral, or criminal science.

Experience:

• Two years of human services, law enforcement, or investigative experience;
• Or an equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

Special Requirements:

• This position is subject to a full criminal offender information record check.
• Offers of employment are contingent upon consenting to and successfully passing a drug screening test.
• Please note that as part of the screening process, Lane County will verify license and certification status.
