Academic Advisor I, ESOL – Part Time – Community College of Baltimore CountyWe are seeking a part‑time Academic Advisor specializing in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) to support our diverse student population across multiple campuses. The role focuses on standardized testing, course placement, and advising students in accordance with the Central Administration of Adult and Family Literacy program (CAAFL) and Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing & Regulation (DLLR) grant requirements.ResponsibilitiesCoordinate standardized placement testing and course placement aligned with guidelines of the Center for Adult and Family Literacy (CFAFL).Maintain and enforce test administration regulations, ensuring FERPA compliance, ADA accessibility, and CCBC Student Code of Conduct.Supervise grant‑funded assessment tests (CASAS or TABE) and execute DLLR requirements for exam security.Determine National Reporting System (NRS) educational functioning levels (EFLs) and advise students accordingly.Advise learners on basic skill levels, barriers to success, and goal setting; provide culturally responsive coaching.Maintain test‑administration certification and attend registration team meetings as scheduled.QualificationsBachelor's degree and at least one year full‑time or two years part‑time experience in education, counseling, academic testing, admissions, or a similar high‑volume student services environment.Must meet program administration qualifications for DLLR Consolidated Adult Education and Family Literacy grant within 30 days of hire.Must remain test certified throughout employment.Prior experience with administration of standardized assessment and/or computer‑based testing programs (CASAS or TABE preferred).BenefitsPart‑time employees are eligible for the following benefits as applicable.403(b) and 457(b) retirement plans.Parking – free with permit from Department of Public Safety (across campuses).Paid sick and safe leave.Positions are available on multiple campuses: Essex, Dundalk, Catonsville, and Owings Mills.
