Salary Range: $45,000-$52,000
Position Summary
Working under the guidance of experienced advising staff, the Academic Advisor I provides academic advising and support to undergraduate students in the College of Engineering. The advisor assists students with course selection, academic planning, major exploration, credit load decisions, and matters related to academic standing and probation. The Academic Advisor I collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to communicate curriculum requirements, interpret university and college policies, and resolve academic concerns. The advisor also supports registration activities and helps connect students with appropriate campus resources to promote academic success.
The advisor meets regularly with assigned students, individually or in a group, to discuss academic and professional goals and monitor academic progress. The incumbent prepares and presents student orientation sessions and develops, coordinates, and implements educational counseling services geared to improving student success and retention. The advisor helps to coordinate advising with career planning, and acts as an advocate and referral source by providing consistent outreach and follow-up services.
The Academic Advisor I represents the College at various related internal and external meetings and events, and helps to position Temple and advising as highly respected and proactive. The incumbent helps facilitate communication of the Vision, Mission, policies and procedures, and academic goals of the College and Temple University while assisting with their development and implementation.
Performs other duties as assigned.
