Job Summary:
Academic Advisor is to guide students through the initial part of their professional development with considerations given to students' academic needs, goals, interests and prior education, along with available institutional and school support services.
Education & Experience
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree with three (3) years of work experience in academic advising, student services, counseling, or higher education administration.
Certifications, Licenses, or Registration Required:
N/A
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated excellent written and verbal skills. Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to learn and use computer programs, network software and database management systems. Ability to effectively and efficiently find and analyze information. Ability to process and maintain confidential information. Ability to work effectively with individuals from varying backgrounds.
Responsibilities:
Assess individual students' study skills, identify appropriate resources and make appropriate referrals for students perceived to be at risk.
Assist students in the development of individualized educational plans.
Maintain appropriate administrative documents.
Develop and promote internal communication and resource sharing in order to promote student success.
Track the collective needs of students.
Provide recommendations for continuous improvement for all services related to academic advising.
Integrate best practices and technology aimed at improving student services.
