Reporting to the Associate Dean for Student Success and Assessment, academic advisors for the College of Nursing (CON) provide comprehensive academic advisement for pre-licensure students in the CON. Advisors provide critical support in the form of curricular guidance, academic counseling, resource referral and more as nursing students navigate the CON's rigorous BSN program.

CON academic advisors help students to understand and meet the academic standards of the program; their proactive support helps students respond to challenges and make use of the many resources available to foster success in the program and beyond. CON academic advisors are a critical component of a nursing student's success and a vital part of the CON team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides comprehensive academic advisement for caseload of College of Nursing pre-licensure students. Upholds university advising standards, and works with student's success team to track student progression. • Manages outreach and support for students who have not met academic standards of the College. Monitors and provides specific outreach to students in jeopardy of academic probation. Contacts students in response to faculty-submitted course alerts. • Informs students of academic support and enrichment opportunities, such as the Student Nursing Association, Study Abroad and Tutors in Residence. • Conducts informal degree audits for students in advance of graduation. Helps students complete required paperwork to resolve curricular or degree audit exceptions. • Maintains detailed advising records for college use. Records advising notes and documentation in Compass as appropriate. • Tracks individual and cohort registration challenges and collaborates with Associate Dean for Student Success and Assessment to address any issues. • Works collaboratively with other departments on campus, such as the Center for Academic Success, the Academic Resource Center, the Career Center, Student Services and Admissions. Provides customer service and support to parents in accordance with FERPA regulations. • Creates ad hoc reports as requested by faculty and senior administrators, such as eligibility for the nursing honors society. Works with College of Nursing administrators toward recruitment of students and provides feedback in the preparation of the annual recruitment plan for the College of Nursing. • Represents the College of Nursing in various capacities, including at Undergraduate Admission events, CON workshops and orientations. • Works with Associate Dean and Undergraduate Dept chair to determine course seat requirements per semester. Maintains accurate and up-to-date advising handbook. In collaboration with the Associate Dean, provides assistance in academic coaching and campus resource referral to students who are in jeopardy of academic probation. • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree and 1 to 3 years of working with students on a college campus

• Master's degree • Student advisement experience preferred

Salary Range: $42,160 - $57,970
