Supporting 7th-10th Grade TCP students in math before and/or after school

RATE: $40/hr

HOURS: 2-3 days/week

DATES: Sept 21, 2026 - June 17, 2027

LOCATION: North Andover Middle School & North Andover High School

About TCP

The mission of The Calculus Project is to use research-supported strategies to increase the representation and success of Black, Hispanic and low-income students in advanced mathematics. There are seven distinct components that support students year round, and one of these is supporting students throughout the school year.

About the Position

As a TCP Academic Center Facilitator you will work with TCP students before and/or after school 2-3 times a week. It should feel like a safe and welcoming space where students can get a snack and feel comfortable asking for help. They will be working on different assignments in different classes and the role is to help them on homework or preparing for assessments. The goal is to build independence in students and thus TCP support should always encourage student study groups, pairs and teaching students good study habits.

Responsibilities

• Create a warm and welcoming environment, one in which students embrace mistakes and can learn from struggle
• Maintain regular communication with TCP coordinator, Caitlin Flanagan
• Monitor student attendance and encourage students to participate
• Support students 1:1 or in small groups as necessary

Qualifications

• Content expertise in math (AP Calculus teaching experience not required but familiarity with middle and high school math topics is needed)
• Experience working effectively with students and staff of various cultures and linguistic backgrounds
• Ability to foster growth mindset and excitement about learning mathematics
