TITLE: Academic Certified Teacher

PAY RATE: $25.00/hr for up to 12 hours per week

JOB SUMMARY: The Academic Certified Teacher provides engaging, high-quality instruction that supports student learning, growth, and academic success in a structured and supportive environment. This role includes planning and implementing meaningful lessons and enrichment activities that reinforce school-day learning while motivating students through creativity, relationship-building, and hands-on experiences. The incorporation of Ohio's Academic Content Standards, with an emphasis on reading and math, is a key focus in teaching and learning. The Academic Teacher collaborates with program staff, school personnel, and families to support student needs, maintain a positive learning atmosphere, and encourage consistent participation and engagement. Additionally, the teacher helps foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment where students can build confidence academically, socially, and emotionally.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.A. in Education and active License to teach in Ohio
  • Ability to engage and inspire students through positive personality, enthusiasm, and motivation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, and implement engaging, real-world lessons
  • Experience in progress monitoring, collecting data and using that data to make informed decisions
  • Proficient computer skills in Google Suite (Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Forms, etc.)

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Create a welcoming and engaging environment that promotes student participation, confidence, and positive behavior
  • Ensure a structured, positive, and high-quality learning experience for all students
  • Encourage regular attendance and help foster a sense of belonging within the program
  • Collect and monitor required data to inform decisions and ensure program compliance
  • Intentionally build relationships and maintain ongoing communication with staff, parents, school administration, the Program Manager, and community partners; collaborate with school administration to support the overall success of the program
  • Attend required training, meetings, and professional development opportunities; complete all required documentation (e.g., background checks, CPR/First Aid certification, etc.)
  • Submit accurate bi-weekly timesheets to the Site Coordinator
  • Plan academic lesson plans that incorporate hands-on, real-world learning applications
  • Incorporate student interests, voice, and choice into lessons and enrichment activities to increase engagement
  • Plan enrichment activities that support and reinforce the content and skills being taught
  • Collect and review student reading and math diagnostic assessments to ensure alignment with academic plans, develop intentional lessons, monitor student progress, and demonstrate measurable growth in reading and math throughout the course of the ASP
  • Work with the Site Coordinator and Lead Teacher to plan enrichment activities that support and reinforce the content and skills being taught
  • Assist with planning and facilitating family engagement events
