Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) announces an opportunity to work as a full-time, tenure-track Academic Counselor in LTCC's Student Services Division. Counseling support services are critical in helping students achieve their personal, academic, and career goals. LTCC has established programs and initiatives supporting various groups of students that have and will continue to require greater involvement from the Counseling department. These include: Guided Pathways, Lake Tahoe College Promise, Rising Scholars Program, extended evening hours in the Counseling Department and more.

The Vision 2030 goals established by the California Community College Chancellor's Office require more enhanced counselor support. As an institution, LTCC is called to lead with equity and excellence, act with urgency, and serve as a force for economic mobility, environmental stewardship, and community resilience. At the heart of Vision 2030 is a reimagining of access, one that no longer waits for students to come to us. This refresh reaffirms our responsibility to meet learners where they are: through partnerships with community-based organizations, labor, and industry. Our colleges are embedded in communities, honoring learning wherever it occurs: Online, in classrooms, or on the job.

APPLICATION PROCESS:

After review, applicants judged most suitable for the position will be invited to initial interviews. These applicants will be notified by phone on or about Wednesday, August 19, 2026. Initial interviews will be conducted by a committee of campus constituents and are tentatively scheduled for September 3 and 4, 2026.

Finalists will then be invited to a secondary process on September 17 and 18, 2026. Travel allowances and district-provided lodging will be provided to qualifying applicants. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee an interview.

LTCC reserves the right to return to the applicant pool at any point during the recruitment process.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Salary Range: LTCC offers a competitive compensation package that includes a starting placement salary of $77,922 to $100,915 annually for faculty who hold a master's degree or equivalent, dependent upon teaching and work experience, or starting placement salary of $94,044 to $117,038 annually for faculty who hold a doctoral degree, dependent upon teaching and work experience. See the faculty salary schedule for further information regarding education and salary placement.

Benefits: Health and Welfare benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and long term disability. These benefits also include full coverage of a gold-level medical plan which, on average, covers 80% of healthcare expenses for a standard population. LTCC also matches 19.1% of an eligible employee's salary and contributes it into a CalSTRS pension account for qualifying employees.

This position is a 200-day contract over fall, winter, and spring quarters. This position is exempt from overtime compensation. 10 days of sick leave accrue annually.

LTCC's Commitment to Diversity

Our ideal candidate will share and participate in LTCC's commitment to the values of diversity and equity while serving its ethnically and socioeconomically diverse student population.
